Extreme High-Head

L Series Pumps

The L Series covers eBORA's highest-pressure duties, reaching 295 m of total head from a single stage. Seven models span 112 to 1,258 m³/hr. Where a duty point would normally call for a multistage pump or pumps in series, a single-stage L Series unit removes the intermediate stages and the maintenance they carry.

Where the L Series is used

Deep shaft and underground mine dewatering

Lifting water out of a deep working is a head problem before it is a flow problem. The L295 reaches 295 m of total head at 988 m³/hr, and the L130 delivers 189 m at 340 m³/hr for smaller sections. Single-stage operation at these pressures reduces the number of wear points compared with a staged arrangement.

High-lift transfer

Pumping to elevated storage, hillside distribution or over significant terrain, where static lift plus friction loss puts the duty point beyond a conventional dewatering pump. The L250 and L275 carry 1,220 and 1,258 m³/hr at 115 and 164 m respectively, covering the mid-range of high-lift work.

Pressure-critical construction dewatering

Deep excavation, tunnelling and shaft sinking where discharge must reach a distant or elevated outfall. Unlike the K Series, the L Series retains solids handling — 19 to 64 mm depending on model — so it tolerates the sediment that construction groundwater typically carries.

Long-distance discharge

Where the discharge point is far from the pump, friction loss across the pipe run can exceed the static lift entirely. The L Series head band gives room to absorb that loss without staging, which matters on sites where a second pump means a second fuel and service point.

Selecting a L Series model

  1. 1

The L Series is the only eBORA range above 145 m of total head. If the duty exceeds that figure, the selection is between L Series models rather than between series.

  2. 2

Within the range, head and flow trade against one another and not linearly. The L295 gives the most head at 295 m and 988 m³/hr; the L275 gives the most flow at 1,258 m³/hr and still reaches 164 m. The L130 reaches 189 m at only 340 m³/hr, so a high-head requirement at modest volume does not oblige you to buy the largest unit.

  3. 3

Solids handling narrows as head rises. The L250 passes 64 mm, while the L110 and L125 pass 19 mm. If the water carries meaningful debris and the head requirement is near the bottom of the L Series band, check whether a B Series model meets the duty with far greater solids capacity.

Where the L Series sits in the range

Across all three series eBORA covers flows to 3,350 m³/hr and total heads to 295 m. The L Series spans 7 models, reaching 1,258 m³/hr and 295 m of total head, handling solids up to 64 mm. Every model self-primes to 8.5 m.

Reading the specifications

Total head
The total height the pump can raise water, combining static lift with the pressure lost to friction in the pipework. A duty point quoted only as a vertical distance understates the real requirement, sometimes substantially on long pipe runs.
Self-priming lift
How far above the water surface the pump can be mounted and still draw water without external assistance. All eBORA models self-prime to 8.5 m, so no vacuum pump or foot valve is needed to start or restart.
Solids handling
The largest spherical particle that can pass through the pump without blocking it. Rated in millimetres and set by impeller and casing geometry — it is a physical clearance, not a filter specification.
Capacity
Volume flow rate at the pump's rated duty point, in cubic metres per hour. Actual delivered flow falls as total head rises, so capacity and head figures should be read together rather than independently.

L Series questions

What is the highest head an L Series pump can achieve?

The L295 reaches 295 m of total head at 988 m³/hr, handling solids to 29 mm. It is the highest-head pump in the eBORA range.

Is the L Series single-stage or multistage?

Single-stage. All seven models reach their rated head in one stage, with mechanical shaft sealing and automatic self-priming to 8.5 m.

Which L Series model moves the most water?

The L275 at 1,258 m³/hr against 164 m of total head, with a 300 mm inlet and 250 mm outlet.

Can the L Series handle solids?

Yes, from 19 mm on the L110 and L125 up to 64 mm on the L250. This distinguishes it from the K Series, which carries no solids rating at comparable pressures.
